www.finance-monthly.com 34 Finance Monthly CFO Awards 2019 CFO at Munich Re DR. CHRISTOPH JURECKA ABOUT DR. CHRISTOPH JURECKA Dr. Christoph Jurecka was born in Bergisch Gladbach in 1974. He graduated from the Technical University of Graz, Austria, with a diploma in technical physics in 1998. He then worked as a research assistant at the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the Technical University of Braunschweig, where he obtained his PhD (Dr. rer. nat) in 2001. Dr. Jurecka began his career as a risk controller at DBV-Winterthur Holding AG in Wiesbaden in February 2002, pursuing his career there as the Head of Business Administration & Controlling in 2003 and the Head of Risk and Capital Management in 2004. In 2007, Dr. Jurecka assumed responsibility for value and risk management as the Chief Risk Officer at AXA Konzern AG in Cologne. In 2009, he became a member of the Board of Directors and Chief Financial Officer of AXA Switzerland in Winterthur. Dr. Jurecka was appointed Chief Financial Officer on the Board of Management of ERGO Group AG in Düsseldorf as of February 2011. Whilst serving on the Board of ERGO AG, Dr. Jurecka also held a number of intra-Group Board of Management and Supervisory Board mandates in Germany and abroad. Dr. Jurecka has been a member of the Board of Management and Chief Financial Officer of Munich Reinsurance Company since January 2019. He is responsible for Financial and Regulatory Reporting, Group Controlling, Integrated Risk Management, Group Taxation, and Investor and Rating Agency Relations.
