We had come a long way since 1997, when the company was established by royal decree with a mandate to develop Saudi Arabia’s minerals sector as the third pillar of Saudi industry, beyond oil and petrochemicals. Ma’aden was wholly owned by the Saudi Government until 2008 when half its shares were floated on the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul). In June 2018, the government holding went up with the Public Investment Fund (PIF) increasing its shareholding to 65.44%. Mr. Al-Khattaf got his bachelor’s degree from King Saud university in Accounting. He continued his education In Finance and Accounting at the University of Colorado. Also, he received a degree in Applied Economics certification from the American University in Washington State. Mr. Al- Khattaf has CPA, and CME-1. Mr. Al-Khattaf worked in a several financial institutions, such as, SAMA, The World Bank, Tadawul, Nomura Bank, and Lafana holdings, also served on the board of investment committees of many Financial and investment institutions, such as, Gulf Investment Corporation, Bupa Insurance, Raidah Investment Company, Samba Capital, Saudi Arabia Insurance Company.
